A few months ago in one of my prayer times, I had a strong sense of the Lord revealing something of a contention in the spirit realm over the UK. I’ve shared it in numerous places and had numerous people ask for copies so they can use in their churches. Although this was written before a general election was called we have been witnessing contention in our nation for a number of years. Some are saying the nation is divided in an unprecedented way as a result of Brexit and our politics seems to be more polarised and contentious than ever before – but the real contention is not political – it is for the hearts of the nation and the role of Jesus followers is so critical.

As I wrote this word down, I saw a picture of people dancing at a silent disco. They are called silent discos because everyone listens to the music through headphones and these headphones have a switch which allow the wearers to choose between the music of two DJ’s who are playing their tunes simultaneously. They were all dancing but not all to the same tune. The dancers faced a choice of which tune they danced to and there is a choice facing the church right now.

Here is the word:

There are two sounds going out over the nation at this time. Both are sounds of change. Both are looking for those who will dance to its tune. One wants to bring hope, restoration, justice, peace – the other wants to bring chaos, fear, division and destruction. Both sounds are being played simultaneously. The Holy Spirit is inviting His people to tune in to the right tune – the one that originates from the very heart of God. These two tunes don’t reflect the discussions filling our news screens. It’s not about brexit or remain, or the political left or right. It’s God’s sound vs the god of destruction. The landscape of change in the natural is an expression of a cosmic contention in the heavens but it’s essentially not a political battle – it’s a spiritual one. A battle for the heart of the nation – a battle that puts the people of God centre stage.

The sound of heaven is selected by humility:

2 Chronicles 7:14 ‘if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.’

Humility and prayer is not just an intention – it’s starts as an attitude, becomes a posture and manifests as action. It starts with Gods people refusing to just carry on as normal, to posture themselves to understanding the time and season we are in. Be humble and pray, be humble and pray – stop your ‘business as usual’ and be humble and pray. The more the hearts of Gods people align in humility and prayer, the louder the sound of heaven rings over the nation. It’s as if our hearts are amplifiers of heavens sound. If heavens sound captures the hearts of Gods people then it will capture the heart of the nation. 

This is a time for the church to wake up and amplify the purposes of God in the nation. This is primarily not a political contention but a spiritual contention – so people of God – align with heavens sound and let the sound of God fill this nation with His glory.

I pray this word helps in our understanding of this time and directs our hearts accordingly.
